I've had these pants for over 5 years and they've performed very well. What I like best is that you forget you have them on... that's a great attribute for waterproof pants.

KUIU Kutana Storm Shell Long-Term Review
Просмотров 5795 месяцев назад
Going into my 5th year with the Kutana Storm Shell jacket and it's still performing great! I use it in all four seasons and will often use it as my outer shell during hunting season whether it's raining, snowing, or the sun is shining - you know you'll always be prepared for whatever mother nature sends at you!

Goosebumps is the only double black diamond at Sunapee that isn't a glade run. This particular day it skied pretty easy as there were no bumps and not much ice. It's definitely the steepest sustained pitch at Sunapee, similar to the top section of upper blastoff but longer.

Orvis Clearwater vs Echo Carbon XL Fly Rod Real World Review - 4 wt
Просмотров 24 тыс.4 года назад
A real world comparison of the 4 wt 8' 6" versions of the Orvis Clearwater and Echo Carbon XL fly rods. In general, the Orvis is a stiffer rod with a much heavier swing weight and I'd say it feels like more than a 4 wt. You don't get a lot of feel and finesse with shorter range casts. The Echo has a softer feel and much lighter swing weight and it's easier to feel and load the line with shorter...

Don't be afraid to throw a beetle spin for trout. They sometimes outperform traditional spinners like Panther Martins and Rooster Tails, and the hookup ratio is much better. • @briansupermag3918
    @briansupermag3918 28 дней назад

    Rapid expansion / rapid fragmentation is king. Pass through is not necessary. BERGER, ELDM for me. NOTHING compares to rapid expansion/fragmenting bullets.

    • @NCMirage257
      @NCMirage257 26 дней назад

      Pass through is not necessary, but it wins the day if you want to be prepared for all shot angles, not just broadside. Rapid expansion can be devastating, but not in every situation. A tight quartering away shot with rapid expansion / fragmenting bullet will likely be a gut shot. With a TSX / TTSX or something similar that bullet will end up going through the chest cavity if you did your part.

    • @briansupermag3918
      @briansupermag3918 26 дней назад

      @NCMirage257 I personally only take good shots, or I just pass. Not into bad shots angles or bad angles. Quarter to quarter away. Zero hard quartering away shots where guts are in its path.i don't consider that a good angle. I never had an angle with a rifle i wasn't able to get a good shot angle. I'll never do a Texas heart shot. Unless it's on a wounded animal. But there is shank left with rapid expansion bullets anyway. Many times, more often than not,there is an exit. That's the misconception that gets passed around. Many many videos on line verifying that rapid expansion bullets have much more internal damage to organs. Also before you bring up fragments all through the meat is also mostly not true. Those tiny fragments have extremely small and light so don't or can't penetrate more than a few inches outside it's path. Of course if there is a large chunk, things happen. But I love this topic and have put more time into it than a lot. Great talking to ya. You do you and enjoy yourself out there. Be safe and have a great day

    Thanks for posting. Five years, nice long term review! I live in VT, plan to do some pursuit hunts next fall. This model may be my shell. Seems it has a bit more abrasion resistance than Chugach, while a half pound lighter than Yukon. Have you needed to re-apply DWR? Again, review much appreciated. Oh, you got this several years ago, do you know if they were using the general "Entrant membrane" from Toray then, or was it Dermizax? Seems now Chugach uses Dermizax (along with Yukon) but not Kutana. Maybe no big diff... Good luck this season!

      I'm 99% sure it uses the exact same waterproof technology as today, I don't think they changed that. BTW, the tech they used in the Yukon back when I tested it was terrible, if you got the inside wet it took forever to dry out. Not so with the Kutana, totally different. I've washed it a few times using a down wash type detergent but have never had to reapply the DWR.

    I have both. I feel the corrugate guide pants are stretchier and hug your hips and feel nicer, the attack pants fit similar to a pair of tough kakis and feel like they are definitely more durable. Both are great pants. Corrugate prob be better for just sitting in stand or saddle and attack would be better for climbing mountains

      I think your comment sums everything up nicely. I agree completely. I lean toward the FL guide pants for comfort and overall movement. But those attack pants are super solid, too. I wore them in NM on a turkey hunt this spring. I was fortunate enough to kill a turkey, and the air vents were much appreciated on the way out. You can’t go wrong with either pants.

    Does anyone have experience with the Weatherby select plus, with the 110gr Hornady ELDX projectile? My rifle shoots them extremely well but the last two whitetails killed with them have not had an exit wound. Both deer only made it 15-20yds after the shot. But we have some very thick, overgrown cutdowns. In the event that the animal made it into the cutdown, it would be extremely difficult to track.

    I've never had factory ammo pollute the barrel of my 257. But, I've loaded and shot all the 25 cal weights available. I highly recommend a good lead core, and at the 117/120 gr weight, for game loads. I don't recommend partitions, especially with lighter bullets,,,, I've seen the "devastation" they create if your shot is not spot on.

    I have been a professional hunting guide since 1976 with this is my only income. I have found the exact same results with the Nosler Ballistic tips and Accubonds blowing up and very little penetration the bullets have on deer and larger game. Many of the game shot by my clients using the ballistic tips & accubonds end up a massive pain looking for the animals after shot and they run off then die. I had a client shoot a black tail buck using a 338 win mag shooting 200 grain Accubond bullet that the bullet blew up then we found fragments of lead and copper and the bullets base in the deer. My experience on the Nosler Accubond it is a gimmick by Nosler to charge more money for the same type of bullets as the Ballistic tips. When I am guiding in Alaska the clients are required to bring not less than a 338 win mag and to bring ammunition loaded with Barns TSX bullets or other brands of copper expanding bullets and absolutely NO bullets with lead cores are allowed in my hunting camps.
